Children's Reading Program

Reading Program for Children!
Western North Carolina Conference United
Methodist Women
A new and exciting reading program began in 2005 in our conference. We know Moms and Dads are reading to children, many times selecting books from the United Methodist Women’s Reading Program List. Now, we want to give children an opportunity to read these books, receive credit when the criteria are met, and then receive a Reading Program Certificate. Since United Methodist Women are concerned about ALL children, we want to involve any child wishing to participate. Some units have circles of elementary school girls, but anyone may take part in the program. The reading list offers a wide variety of subjects to not only increase awareness of global concerns, but enhance their spirituality and intensify their self esteem. This is an excellent way to let them be involved, learn more about The Purpose, and feel an integral part of United Methodist Women…just as their mothers do.
Complete information regarding the Children’s Reading Program, including guidelines & suggestions, the book list, and a report form, are available here for download, in both WORD and PDF formats. Information is also available from your district Secretary of Program Resources. Thank you for helping our children be involved in our Reading Program. We think they‘ll feel the excitement!!
