Leader Development Opportunities
United Methodist Women provide opportunities for leader development and officer training in a variety of ways. One of those ways is to provide leader development events for conference, district, and local unit officers. In our own conference, each district provides an officer training event for local unit officers. District officers participate in a special day of training provided by their conference officer counterparts. And, our conference officers receive special training each year in officer update classes at the South Atlantic Regional School of Christian Mission.
Local Unit Officer Training Opportunities: Leader Development events for local unit officers take place across the conference...in each of the fifteen districts. Each of those events provides opportunities for local officers to share in up-to-date information about the mission and Purpose of United Methodist Women, and to receive information and support as they prepare to lead United Methodist Women in their own local unit. These events in the fifteen districts take place on various dates...usually during October and November. Click on the link below for your district to check on the date for the event in your district. Contact your district president for more information....and make plans to attend. You will be glad that you did!

District Officer Training Event: Each year, our conference
provides an officer training event for district officers where each
conference officer leads a day of training for their district counterparts. District officers receive information about this event from their district
president and/or their conference counterpart. It is an important day
for district officers to learn more about their office and
responsibilities...so they can in turn share information with local unit
officers in their districts. The 2010 event will take place on October 9,
2010, at Salem United Methodist Church in Morganton, NC. HANDS-ON
PROJECT will be collecting for school children (sending them as bulk
items): #2 pencils with erasers; hand held pencil sharpeners free of symbols
or printing; children’s blunt scissors (round tips); ruled paper (pad,
spiral, or loose leaf).
The PURPOSE of

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women
whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through
