Call to Prayer & Self Denial

Has your unit made plans to celebrate Call to Prayer and Self Denial this year? This special observance is usually held the first few months of each new year. The theme for 2013 is “Living Stewardship: Creating Financial Literacy". 

In 2013, the offering received will equip, educate and empower women and youth with financial knowledge and skills necessary to improve their financial well-being and make informed decisions. Greater financial literacy will build skills and knowledge among target populations in areas such as, but not limited to, personal and household financial budget planning and cash management, savings, credit access and management, formal and informal banking, safety-net planning; thereby, equipping people to better understand and manage household and personal finances to advance their economic situation.

The Quiet Day service for the Call to Prayer and Self Denial is in our 2012/2013 United Methodist Women Program Book.

Our God and Maker, we thank you for the abundance of life you offer to each one of us. We ask that you will help us to see your heart for those who are in need and from whom this abundant life has been taken away. As we journey in mission today, we pray that we will live out your heart in the world through our giving so that women, children and youth have a place at the table. In Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

The PURPOSE of United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
